Issue:
An employees two teenage children were found in a keycard restricted area in the OR staff break room with a personal laptop. Once found the childrens parent was notified and the children were asked to leave by the Privacy Officer and VA Police. A surgery schedule with 12 patients was found on the table in the room with the children. No known loss of patient information occurred.
Outcome:
01/02/14: Twelve (12) Veterans will be sent letters offering credit protection services due to full names and full SSNs being disclosed.
