Issue:

Veteran A, who is also VA employee, is a patient in the Hospital. Co-workers came to his room and told him about his condition and what was found in his x-rays. Patient did not know the results of his tests.

Outcome:

04/24/14: The co-workers were not involved in the care of the patient and they did not process any tests or procedures in the course of their normal duties. They have access to VISTA and CPRS. The Veteran's record is now marked sensitive. Veteran A will receive a HIPAA letter of notification.
