Issue:
A complainant reports that his supervisor disclosed protected health information (PHI) to a Union official without his consent. Update: 04/13/11:The supervisor acknowledged her use of employee's name and medical condition. The supervisor went to the Union official to get their opinion if a bargaining unit employee should be cleared to return to work. The employee had surgery on 04/01/11 and the supervisor was concerned for the Veterans' safety as well as safety for employee whose position requires some manual lifting of patients.The employee will receive a letter of notification.
Outcome:
Employee received appropriate HR disciplinary action, notification letter mailed on 4-22-2011.
