Issue:

Union President made a complaint today in a meeting about information released under 7114(b). The document (VA Police Investigative Report) was reviewed by Labor Relations and information spans over the break in the last two pages. The last four and DOB did not get redacted. Privacy will further investigate.

Outcome:

04/23/14: After meeting with the Service Chief and Labor Relations today it has been determined that this disclosure was inappropriate. The Privacy Officer updated the ticket from a complaint to an incident. Further review of the document revealed that the home address was also disclosed. 04/24/14: The Union President is a VA employee. The information about the Union President is contained in a VA Police Report. During a meeting yesterday afternoon with Labor Relations they reported the unredacted documents were supposedly shared with union members about the conduct of the Union President. The control of the information after release is unknown since the Union members could have taken the documents anywhere. The Union President will receive a general letter of notification.
