Issue:
Based on interview and record review, the hospital failed to protect the right for confidential medical treatment for one of one sampled patient (1). Findings:Patient 1 was admitted to the hospital's rehabilitation unit on 1/6/12.On 4/19/12 at 11 a.m. during an interview with the privacy officer, she stated that one of the hospital's community volunteer (pet therapist) had taken a picture of Patient 1 and posted the picture on the Internet. On 2/3/12 the hospital was made aware of the above incident and conducted an internal investigation. During the investigation the hospital became aware that Patient 1 had consented for the picture to be taken by the volunteer but did not consent for the picture to be posted on the Internet. According to the privacy officer the picture indicated Patient 1 was a patient of the hospital.
