Reported Entity: NASHVILLE TN - 626

Issue:

On 7/23/14, a Veteran reported the following incident to the Patient Advocate, Nashville Campus: On July 14, 2014, an Employee, Prosthetic Clinic, Nashville Campus, openly discussed this Veteran's equipment needs for his erectile dysfunction in front of other Veterans and family members. This Veteran was embarrassed by the conversation and feels his privacy was violated. Due to the minimal space, the clerk's counter, Prosthetic Clinic, Nashville Campus, is in close proximity to the waiting room and there is no private area available to hold these type of discussions. Prosthetic staff have been reminded to keep their voices low when discussing patient information. Additionally, an auditory privacy sign is posted requesting that Veterans wait away from the counter until the Veteran, who is being assisted, has completed his/her business.

Outcome:

07/24/14: The Incident Resolution Service Team has determined that Veteran A will be sent a notification letter.
