General explanation attachment The YMCA of Greater Bergen County is a charitable, community service organization that includes men, women, and children of all ages, abilities, incomes, races and religions. We are dedicated to strengthening the Foundations of Community by putting Christian principles into practice through programs that promote healthy lifestyles, strong values, leadership development, community interaction, and international understanding. All people are welcome at our YMCA, regardless of their ability to pay. Our YMCA is founded and led by volunteers from our community; volunteers also serve as mentors, coaches, program leaders, instructors and more. ur Three Areas of Focus: 1) FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT: Nurturing the potential of every child and teen. 2) FOR HEALTHY LIVING: Improving the nation's health and well-being. 3) FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Giving back and providing support to our neighbors. NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: Total people served in 2013: Facility and Program - 10,600 people, Youth under age 18 - 3,821. NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: Healthy U program addresses childhood health and obesity prevention in SACC. Free 7th Grade Y Membership to Hackensack and Teaneck youth. Child Care water safety/swim program. Teen Venture Camp, Parents Night Out program, Teen Night, Leaders Club, Family Festival. NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: YMCA 2013 Scholarship & Program Subsidy Allocation: Total support provided equals $100,000; $49,200 scholarships and $54,400 program subsidies to our Youth & Teen Department.
