IN THE FISCAL YEAR OF 2012/2013 ABOUT 437,000 PEOPLE VISITED THE MUSEUM FOR EXHIBITIONS, PROGRAMS, AND SPECIAL EVENTS. THE WITTE'S PERMANENT EXHIBITIONS INCLUDE THE ROBERT J. AND HELEN C. KLEBERG SOUTH TEXAS HERITAGE CENTER. THIS 20,000 SQUARE FOOT, TWO STORY CENTER SERVES AS A PERMANENT HOME FOR THE WITTE MUSEUM'S SOUTH TEXAS COLLECTION, CHANGING AND PERMANENT EXHIBITIONS, AND PUBLIC PROGRAMS. THE PERMANENT EXHIBIT A WILD AND VIVID LAND: STORIES OF SOUTH TEXAS MAKES ITS HOME IN THE SOUTH TEXAS HERITAGE CENTER. THE WITTE'S PERMANENT EXHIBITIONS ALSO INCLUDE TEXAS WILD, ANCIENT TEXANS, TAKE IT TO THE RIVER, AND THE H-E-B SCIENCE TREEHOUSE.
