Form 990, Schedule I MDIF very rarely makes grants to other organizations within the United States as its mission is to support the growth of independent, indigenous media in developing democracies primarily in Eastern Europe, the Former Soviet Union, Asia, Africa and Latin America. In 2013, MDIF made two grants to organizations, Global Voices and the Eurasia Foundation, that promote the same digital and media activism. MDIF deems these grants to be an extension of its own mission. Grants are issued to fund specific program related activities of both charities and so MDIF does not require further grantee reports to document the usage of the funds.
