Return Reference Explanation
PART I, LINE 2: EACH SCHOLARSHIP AT THE FOUNDATION HAS A SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION AND CRITERIA THAT THE FOUNDATION FOLLOWS WHEN AWARDING THE SCHOLARSHIPS. THE PAYMENT METHOD IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DONOR AS TO HOW THEY WISH TO AWARD THE RECIPIENT. THE MAJORITY OF THE DONORS' STATE IN THE SCHOLARSHIPS BOOKLET THAT THE AMOUNT SHALL BE "EDUCATION CREDIT," WHICH MEANS THE STUDENT DOES NOT RECEIVE A CHECK FROM THE DONOR. RATHER, THE STUDENT WHO IS RETURNING TO RCC THE FOLLOWING YEAR WILL REGISTER AT THE COLLEGE AND BE CREDITED WITH THE AMOUNT OF THE SCHOLARSHIP AFTER THE "DROP THE COURSE" DATE HAS PASSED. AT THAT TIME, THE BURSAR'S OFFICE WILL INITIATE A WARRANT WITH THE NAMES OF THE STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS WHERE THE CRITERIA STATES, "EDUCATION CREDIT," AND THE FOUNDATION SHALL PAY OVER THE AMOUNT OF THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD TO THE BURSAR'S OFFICE. IF THE STUDENT DOES NOT RETURN TO RCC THE FOLLOWING SEMESTER AS IS STATED IN THE CRITERIA STATEMENT, THE FOUNDATION SHALL NOT AWARD THE STUDENT THE SCHOLARSHIP. THIS ALSO APPLIES IF THE STUDENT "DROPS OUT OF THE COURSE," BEFORE THE DROP/ADD PERIOD. IF THE STUDENT IS GRADUATING FROM RCC, THE FOUNDATION SHALL HAVE THE STUDENT PROVIDE THE NAME AND ADDRESS OF THE COLLEGE THAT THEY WILL BE ATTENDING AND WE SEND THE CHECK TO THAT COLLEGE'S BURSAR'S OFFICE WITH A NOTE THAT IT IS FOR TUITION PAYMENT. THE CHECK IS MADE OUT TO THE COLLEGE, WITH A MEMO OF CREDIT TO THE STUDENT'S ACCOUNT. THERE ARE A FEW SCHOLARSHIPS THAT THE DONOR SIMPLY PROVIDES A CHECK DIRECTLY TO THE STUDENT. ALTHOUGH WE STRONGLY ADVISE THE DONORS THAT "EDUCATION CREDIT" IS THE BEST METHOD OF PAYMENT, SOME WISH TO SIMPLY PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH A CHECK. ALSO, SOME STUDENTS WHO RECEIVE A SCHOLARSHIP CHECK ARE CONTINUING THEIR EDUCATION AND THE DONORS WISH TO REWARD THEM FOR THE ACADEMIC EFFORT AT RCC.
