THE OHIO HEALTH COUNCIL'S PRIMARY PURPOSE IS THE PROMOTION OF HEALTH BY COORDINATING THE EFFORTS OF ITS MEMBERS AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS INTERESTED IN THE HEALTH OF COMMUNITIES. THIS PURPOSE INCLUDES FUNDING PROJECTS THAT: (1) CONDUCTS HEALTH EDUCATION AND HEALTH PROMOTION PROGRAMS REGARDING THE ADVANTAGES TO THE HEALTH OF COMMUNITIES TO BE GAINED THROUGH THE PRACTICE OF MEDICINE AND OTHER HEALTH PROFESSIONS AND THE OPERATION OF HOSPITALS; (2)ARRANGES FOR THE AVAILABILITY OF MEDICAL, HOSPITAL AND RELATED SERVICES, INCLUDING THROUGH PUBLICIZING COMMUNITY NEED FOR HEALTH CARE SERVICES AND MAINTAINING LISTINGS OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS TO MEET SUCH COMMUNITY NEEDS AND FACILITATING THE PLACEMENT OF HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS IN COMMUNITIES WITH SUCH NEEDS; (3)STRENGTHENS AND PROMOTES POLICIES AND PRINCIPLES TO IMPROVE PATIENT SAFETY; (4)IDENTIFIES STRATEGIES TO ENHANCE PATIENT SAFETY IN OHIO HEALTH CARE ORGANIZATIONS; (5)IDENTIFIES BARRIERS TO IMPLEMENTATION OF STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVING PATIENT SAFETY AND DEVELOPING STRATEGIES THAT OVERCOME THESE BARRIERS; AND (6)PROMOTING, IDENTIFYING AND DISSEMINATING RELIABLE PATIENT SAFETY INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC AND PROVIDER COMMUNITIES AND MAKING ANNUAL DONATIONS TO OHIO'S PUBLIC MEDICAL SCHOOLS TO HELP MEDICAL STUDENTS IN NEED OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. |
