RESPONSE, WITH ITS MISSION TO SUPPORT, EDUCATE, AND EMPOWER VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT, HAS EXISTED SINCE 1983. WE ARE THE ONLY NON-PROFIT AGENCY IN OUR SERVICE AREA OFFERING FREE, CONFIDENTIAL, NON-JUDGMENTAL, TRAUMA-INFORMED, AND VICTIM-CENTERED ADVOCACY TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT SURVIVORS. |

OUR PROGRAM HAS BEEN SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED SO THAT CALLS FROM OUR 24-HOUR HELPLINE ARE TAKEN BY OUR VOLUNTEER ADVOCATE. ALL VOLUNTEER ADVOCATES COMPLETE A MANDATORY 30-HOUR TRAINING THAT IS HELD TWICE PER YEAR IN ORDER TO HELP PREPARE THEM BE ABLE TO ADDRESS MOST SITUATIONS THAT MAY ARISE WHILE ON-CALL. PRESENTATIONS GIVEN IN THIS TRAINING ARE ALSO TIME VOLUNTEERED BY PROFESSIONALS IN THE COMMUNITY SUCH AS LAW ENFORCEMENT, DISTRICT ATTORNEYS, MENTAL HEALTH PROVIDERS, CHILD PROTECTION AND SURVIVORS. OUR STAFF PROVIDES THE VOLUNTEER ADVOCATES WITH SUPERVISION AND SUPPORT AS NEEDED AS WELL AS DURING OUR BI-MONTHLY MEETINGS WHICH ARE HELD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL TRAINING. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ALSO SERVE ON A VOLUNTEER BASIS. |
