Explanation
Part I, Line 1a
Social club dues are paid on behalf of appropriate employees conducting business at a private city club. During 2015, JUF purchased an airline ticket for Steve Nasatir's wife who accompanied him on a business trip to Israel. The cost of the airfare was $1,922.
Part I, Line 4b
Michael Tarnoff: The Jewish Federation has an agreement with Michael Tarnoff which provides for annual payments of $30,000 per year that began in 2009 and will end in 2019. Steven B. Nasatir: In 1999 the Jewish Federation entered into an agreement with Steven Nasatir that was contingent upon 5 more years of service as president and CEO and would result in annual payments of $50,000 per year (net of tax) beginning at age 64 and lasting throughout his lifetime. Dr. Nasatir began receiving payments under this agreement in 2009. During 2012, the Jewish Federation entered into a second agreement with Steven Nasatir which provides for annual payments of $5,000 beginning April 1, 2015 and lasting throughout his lifetime. The $50,000 and $5,000 annual payment amounts are to be adjusted annually in accordance with the CPI index. These benefits are payable to him only for as long as he lives. There are no guaranteed payment amounts and no survivor benefits at his death. In 2015, Steven Nasatir received payments totaling $77,769 from the two supplemental non-qualified retirement plans. Jeffrey Cohen: The Jewish Federation has an agreement with Jeffrey Cohen which provides for annual payments of $21,000 per year that began in 2013 and will end in 2023. David Rosen: The Jewish Federation has an agreement with David Rosen which provides for annual payments of $25,000 per year beginning in 2018 and ending in 2028. Michael Kotzin: The Jewish Federation has an agreement with Michael Kotzin which provides for annual payments of $21,115 that began in 2006 and will end in 2016. David Brief: The Jewish Federation has a deferred compensation agreement with David Brief which includes an account that is funded by Federation on annual basis, if certain performance criteria are met. In 2015, Mr. Brief became 20% vested in the account balance. An additional 10% will become vested each year thereafter so long as he is employed by Jewish United Fund. Mr. Brief or his beneficiary is eligible to receive a lump sum cash payment from the account on the earliest of the following events: 1) his death, 2) if he becomes disabled, 3) the termination of his employment with Jewish United Fund or 4) January 1, 2033.
Part I, Line 7
David Brief's bonus is determined by his supervisor based upon an annual evaluation form that requires a numerical ranking from 1 to 10 in various categories, which is customary for Chief Investment Officers.
