Return Reference Explanation
PART I, LINE 2: FOR ALL GRANTS, WE REQUIRE WRITTEN PROGRESS REPORTS. FOR SMALLER (LESS THAN $25K) GRANTS/PROJECTS, WE GENERALLY REQUIRE VERBAL UPDATES ON A QUARTERLY BASIS, TIMED TO COINCIDE WITH OUR BOARD MEETINGS, AND A FORMAL, WRITTEN UPDATE AT THE END OF THE GRANT PERIOD. FOR LARGER GRANTS AND PROJECTS, WE TYPICALLY REQUIRE QUARTERLY WRITTEN REPORTS, TIMED TO COINCIDE WITH OUR BOARD MEETINGS. WE ASK FOR SPECIFIC INFORMATION REGARDING THE PROGRESS OF THE PROJECT, THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE SERVED, THE TYPE OF SERVICES PROVIDED, AND OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION. WE ALSO DO SITE VISITS TO SEE THE PROGRAMS IN REAL TIME. ALSO, HOW DO YOU CHOOSE WHO IS SELECTED TO RECEIVE ASSISTANCE? RDPFS HAS A RIGOROUS PROPOSAL EVALUATION PROCESS. WE EVALUATE THE NEED, THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM/PROJECT AND HOW WELL IT MAY MEET THE NEED. WE EVALUATE THE CAPABILITIES OF THE PROJECT TEAM - BOTH LEADERSHIP AND STAFF. WE TALK TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE RECEIVED SERVICES FROM THE REQUESTING ORGANIZATION IN THE PAST. WE RESEARCH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE WORKING IN THE SAME SPACE, TO COMPARE PROGRAMS. WE EVALUATE THE OVERALL FISCAL HEALTH OF THE PARENT ORGANIZATION AND WE ASK POINTED AND DETAILED QUESTIONS ON PROGRAM/PROJECT BUDGETS. WE DO SITE VISITS BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE GRANT PERIOD HAS ENDED. THE STAFF PROVIDES WRITTEN SUMMARIES OF GRANT REQUESTS (AND THE RELATED RESEARCH) TO THE BOARD AT THE QUARTERLY BOARD MEETINGS. PROPOSALS ARE DISCUSSED, AND THE BOARD VOTES TO FUND OR NOT.
