THIS PAST YEAR, PEACE WINDS AMERICA HAS BEEN PARTNERING WITH TAIWAN, INCREASING THE CAPABILITIES OF THE U.S. AND TAIWAN TO WORK TOUGHER AT TIMES OF DISASTER AND TO STRENGTHEN THE CAPACITIES WITHIN TAIWAN TO RESPOND TO DOMESTIC NATURAL DISASTERS. |

THE JAPAN DISASTER RELIEF AND RECOVERY PROGRAM FOLLOWED THE TWO EARTHQUAKES THAT STRUCK KUMAMOTO PREFECTURE IN APRIL 2016. PEACE WINDS AMERICA WORKING WITH PEACE WINDS JAPAN HAS PROVIDED IMMEDIATE RELIEF (FOOD, SANITATION, SHELTER) AND THEN HELPED MOVE THE SURVIVORS INTO TEMPORARY HOUSING DISTRIBUTING APPLIANCES TO MORE THAN 1500 FAMILIES. WE HAVE PROVIDED CARE AND SHELTER FOR THOSE FAMILIES WITH PETS, ENABLING THEM TO KEEP THEIR PETS IN ANIMAL SHELTERS. ALSO, WE HAVE PROVIDED MONTHLY EVENTS, TRAINING, AND LIVELIHOODS PROGRAMS FOR THE TEMPORARY HOUSING RESIDENTS "BUILDING COMMUNITY" WITHIN THE 24 TEMPORARY HOUSING TOWNSHIPS. |

FOLLOWING THE OCTOBER 2016 HURRICANE MATTHEW WHICH STRUCK HAITI, PEACE WINDS AMERICA AND PEACE WINDS JAPAN PROVIDED IMMEDIATE RELIEF, FOLLOWED BY CONTRUCTION OF SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY CENTERS. SCHOOL BOOKS, SUPPLIES AND MATERIALS WERE DISPERSED TO CHILDREN IN ST JEAN DU SUD, HAITI, TARGETING THOSE COMPLETING THEIR SECONDARY SCHOOL DIPLOMA AS WELL AS CHILDREN IN PRIMARY SCHOOL. |

PEACE WINDS AMERICA AND PEACE WINDS JAPAN CONTINUE TO ASSIST NEPAL FOLLOWING THE EARTHQUAKES AND FLOODS. WE COMPLETED CONSTRUCTING THREE COMMUNITY CENTERS PROVIDING A SAFE HAVEN AND LIVELIHOOD TRAINING FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS. WE HAVE REBUILT IRRIGATION SYSTEMS AND ALSO INSTALLED TOILETS AT SCHOOLS IN RURAL AREAS. |
