2017 Program Accompishments | HISTORIC MANSION TOURS AND VISITOR CENTERS OPERATED BY SSPF:26,774 people experienced historic mansion tours provided by SSPF.2,513 school children were provided guided tours and programs.Over 100,000 visitors had a more enriched park experience visiting SSPF supported Visitor Centers at Emerald Bay, DL Bliss, Sugar Pine Point, and Donner Memorial State Parks. EMERALD BAY STATE PARKCompleted the design and fabrication of 8 interpretive panels. Historic Landscape Reports for Vikingsholm are complete. Implementation has begun starting with removal of invasive species in 2017Installed fire and intrusion alarm systems for the historic buildings.Commissioned for an engineering assessment of the South Turret. Restored sod roof and deteriorating foyer and threshold.Commissioned for the development of an Underwater Interpretive Trail to open in September 2018.Supported the research of the underwater archeological features in Emerald Bay. Paid for rodent and insect eradication for the historic buildings. Commissioned for the replacement of historic curtains from the Chieftains Room.Paid State Park staff to provide summer interpretive programming.DL BLISS STATE PARKFunded Lake Tahoe seasonal interpretive positions who provided 65 programs to 1472 visitors. SUGAR PINE POINT STATE PARKProvided funding for staffing and materials for the landscape improvements in the Historic Zone. Completed the repairs to the South Boathouse at Sugar Pine Point and currently working to complete the rail repairs with Mercury return in 2018. Produced a free self-guided tour for the Historic Zone at SPPSP. Installed fire and intrusion alarm systems at Pine Lodge, Vikingsholm, and 3 other buildings.Operate the winter trail-grooming program to maintain the 17 km of Olympic Snow Trails. DONNER MEMORIAL STATE PARKCommissioned for an updated assessment of the Pioneer Monument and have entered into a collaboration with the Native Sons of the Golden West for the Donner Project to include monument restoration, landscaping, and the construction of an outdoor education pavilion. Work on the site plan development has begun. Lead organizer for the Centennial Celebration of the Pioneer Monument on June 9, 2018. Produced Teachers Guide to the Donner Visitor Center. WASHOE MEADOWS STATE PARKSponsored interpretive programming at Washoe Meadows SP.KINGS BEACH STATE RECREATON AREAWorking with State Parks for the development of the General Plan. Supporting the implementation of a Junior Lifeguard Program in 2018.Distributed free Park Passes to low-income community members in Kings Beach.FOR ALL OF OUR PARKSLaunched a new dynamic web page and online store. We provide critical program, volunteer and financial support to our valued cultural and natural resources. We fund projects and educational programs that connect people with our rich natural resources and cultural heritage. Because of our work, our parks will continue to be places of education and inspiration for generations to come. |
