Return Reference Explanation
Part I, Line 2: The Foundation's Board of Directors distributes IOLTA funds annually through the IOLTA grant process. By Idaho Supreme Court order, IOLTA funds can only be used to provide funding for the following purposes: 1) To provide legal services to the poor 2) To provide law-related education programs for the public 3) To provide scholarships and student loans 4) To improve the administration of justice; and 5) For such other programs for the benefit of the public as are specifically approved from time to time by the Supreme Court of Idaho. Grant applications are available each year in late July, and must be submitted by mid-September. Applications are then reviewed by the Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOLTA) Grants Committee. The Committee recommends grant awards based on the above criteria. The Foundation Board of Directors approves final grant awards at the October Board Meeting. Grant recipients are required to sign a contract which specifies how the grant is to be expended, and the subsequent reporting requirements. Compliance with these requirements is assigned to a specific representative of the Foundation.
