BELOW IS A COMPLETE LISTING OF THE FOUNDATION'S WORK. FUND MANAGEMENT: BY WORKINGWITH A DIVERSE SET OF INDIVIDUALS, THE FOUNDATION HELPS DONORS OF ALL TYPES DO THEIR PART TO SOLVE THE CHALLENGES THAT KEEP THEM UP AT NIGHT. THE FOUNDATION WORKS WITH INDIVIDUALS, BUSINESSES AND CORPORATIONS, LOCAL AND NATIONAL FOUNDATIONS, AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES TO SUPPORT OUR REGION. WITH OVER 800 FUNDS UNDER MANAGEMENT, FUNDHOLDERS ARE PROVIDED WITH EXPERT GUIDANCE AND CONCIERGE SERVICE-ALL FROM ITS HOME IN THE CENTER FOR PHILANTHROPY, IN THE HEART OF NEW ORLEANS. NONPROFIT EFFECTIVENESS: TRAINING NONPROFIT LEADERS TO BE EFFECTIVE, SAVVY, AND RESPONSIBLE STEWARDS OF THEIR ORGANIZATIONS, THE FOUNDATION ANNUALLY SERVES IN EXCESS OF 1,000 INDIVIDUALS. WHETHER A NONPROFIT LEADER NEEDS ENTRY-LEVEL TRAINING IN BOARD GOVERNANCE, FUNDRAISING, OR FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT; OR IN-DEPTH, TARGETED TRAINING OR COACHING, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES THESE WRAP-AROUND SERVICES. WITH A DIVERSE PORTFOLIO, THE FOUNDATION INVESTS IN PARTNERS THAT RANGE FROM GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATIONS TO ANCHOR INSTITUTIONS. SOME OF THE FOUNDATION'S MOST POPULAR PROGRAMS ARE HIGHLIGHTED BELOW. IMPACT, THE FOUNDATION'S ANNUAL DISCRETIONARY GRANTMAKING PROGRAM, SUPPORTS HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICE, ARTS AND CULTURE, EDUCATION AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS. NEW ORLEANS WORKS, THE FOUNDATION'S SIGNATURE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, DOES EXACTLY THAT: IT WORKS. UNLIKE SIMILAR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS, NEW ORLEANS WORKS USES AN EMPLOYER-LED MODEL THAT GUARANTEES EMPLOYMENT FOR LOW-TO-MIDDLE SKILLED WORKERS UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF TARGETED TRAINING. THROUGH NEW ORLEANS WORKS, THE FOUNDATION HAS BEEN ABLE TO: EMPLOY OVER 350 INDIVIDUALS AND IMPACT NEARLY 1,000 WORKERS THROUGH TRAINING AND ACCESS TO CAREER PATHWAYS; WORK WITH EVERY MAJOR HEALTHCARE EMPLOYER IN THE NEW ORLEANS REGION; IMPLEMENT SHARED TRAINING PRACTICES AND POLICIES BETWEEN HEALTHCARE EMPLOYERS; AND HELP HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENTS AT HEALTHCARE INSTITUTIONS IMPLEMENT PROGRESSIVE HIRING AND PROMOTION PRACTICES TO ALLOW MORE INDIVIDUALS TO QUALIFY FOR AND GAIN EMPLOYMENT AND PROMOTION. LAUNCH THE SECOND CHANCE FUND, WHICH SUPPORTS ORGANIZATIONS THAT GIVE MICRO-GRANTS TO FORMERLY INCARCERATED RETURNING CITIZENS, ALLOWING THEM TO REMOVE SMALL BARRIERS THAT STAND IN BETWEEN THEM AND MEANINGFUL EMPLOYMENT. SECOND CHANCE FUND MICRO-GRANTS HELPED NEARLY 300 PEOPLE IN THE PROGRAM'S FIRST YEAR (2016), BY PROVIDING ITEMS LIKE CONSTRUCTION TOOLS, IDENTIFICATION CARDS, GLASSES, WORK BOOTS, AND TOOLS. URBAN WATER SERIES, THE FOUNDATION'S APPROACH TO HELPING NEW ORLEANS LIVE WITH WATER, HAS HELPED CITY AND REGIONAL OFFICIALS, NATIONAL EXPERTS, NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, AND CITIZENS COME TOGETHER TO LEARN HOW TO RESPONSIBLY MANAGE STORM WATER IN THE NATION'S THIRD RAINIEST CITY. BECAUSE OF THE URBAN WATER SERIES, THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS ADOPTED ARTICLE 23 TO ITS COMPREHENSIVE ZONING ORDINANCE. ARTICLE 23 ENSURES THAT NEW CONSTRUCTION MUST INCORPORATE PROGRESSIVE WATER MANAGEMENT AND GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE. THE ENVIRONMENTAL FUND IS THE FOUNDATION'S GRANTMAKING PROGRAM TO SUPPORT COASTAL COMMUNITIES. FROM COLLABORATING WITH THE UNITED HOUMA NATION TO HELP NATIVE COMMUNITIES GAIN CLEAR TITLES TO THEIR LAND IN ADVANCE OF CLIMATE-MIGRATION TO WORKING WITH THE ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND TO HELP RE-DESIGN THE LOWER END OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER, THE ENVIRONMENTAL FUND IS A CATALYST FOR THE PROTECTION AND RESTORATION OF COASTAL COMMUNITIES. LGBT FUND, LOUISIANA'S FIRST DEDICATED SOURCE OF FOUNDATION FUNDING FOR LGBTQ-LED AND -SERVING ORGANIZATIONS, SUPPORTS EQUALITY, FAIRNESS, ACCEPTANCE, AND MUTUAL RESPECT FOR ALL. IN ITS FIRST ROUND OF GRANTMAKING IN 2016, THE LGBT FUND GRANTED $100,000 TO THIRTEEN NEW ORLEANS ORGANIZATIONS. FOR MANY OF THESE ORGANIZATIONS, THIS WAS THEIR FIRST OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE GRANT FUNDING OF ANY KIND. 1923 LEGACY SOCIETY CELEBRATES THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE REMEMBERED THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS FOUNDATION IN THEIR WILL. THE FOUNDATION'S TEAM OF EXPERTS IN GIFT PLANNING WORK CLOSELY WITH PROFESSIONAL ADVISORS SUCH AS CPAS, INVESTMENT ADVISORS, AND ESTATE ATTORNEYS TO BUILD TAX-SAVVY GIFT PLANS THAT ARE UNIQUE TO THE DONOR AND SERVE THEIR HIGHEST PHILANTHROPIC GOALS. PROMOTION OF PHILANTHROPY: IN 2016, THE FOUNDATION OPENED ITS NEW HOME-THE CENTER FOR PHILANTHROPY - TO BE THE PHYSICAL AND SYMBOLIC HOME FOR STRATEGIC PHILANTHROPY IN SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA. TO CREATE THIS NEW HOME, THE FOUNDATION ASKED SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA TO IMAGINE GREATER: TO IMAGINE A PLACE THAT WOULD BE THE PERMANENT HOME FOR PHILANTHROPY IN THE REGION; A PLACE THAT REFLECTED THE VALUES OF THE FOUNDATION AND ITS PARTNERS - WHETHER DONORS, FUNDHOLDERS, OR NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. BECAUSE OF ITS COMMITMENT TO THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS REGION, THE FOUNDATION IS POISED TO ATTRACT AND DEPLOY PHILANTHROPIC INVESTMENTS LIKE NEVER BEFORE. IN ADDITION TO HOUSING THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS FOUNDATION, THE CENTER FOR PHILANTHROPY IS HOME TO THE GULF COAST OFFICE OF THE W.K. KELLOGG FOUNDATION AND THE CHEVRON LEARNING CENTER. BEYOND THE DOORS OF THE CENTER FOR PHILANTHROPY, THE FOUNDATION PROMOTES PHILANTHROPY THROUGH: GIVENOLA DAY, A 24 HOUR ONLINE GIVING DAY THAT, OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS, HAS RAISED NEARLY $20 MILLION FOR OVER 700 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE FOUNDATION'S 13-PARISH SERVICE REGION. WITH A MINIMUM DONATION LEVEL OF $10, GIVENOLA DAY GIVES EVERYONE THE CHANCE TO BE A PHILANTHROPIST. THE FOUNDATION RECEIVES NO FEES FOR PRODUCING GIVENOLA DAY, AND IN FACT ESTIMATES ITS COSTS TO PRODUCE THIS EVENT TO BE $100,000 PER YEAR. GIVING CIRCLES, SUCH AS IMPACT 100 AND EMERGING PHILANTHROPISTS OF NEW ORLEANS, RECRUIT AND ENCOURAGE DIVERSE INDIVIDUALS TO COME TOGETHER TO MAKE A LASTING DIFFERENCE. THROUGH GIVING CIRCLES, THE FOUNDATION CAN MAKE SIZABLE, TRANSFORMATIVE GRANTS TO ORGANIZATIONS PERFORMING OUTSTANDING WORK, WHILE CELEBRATING THE UNIQUE PASSIONS AND PHILANTHROPIC GOALS OF THE GIVING CIRCLE MEMBERSHIP.
FORM 990, PART VI, SECTION B, LINE 11B UPON COMPLETION OF A FINAL DRAFT OF FORM 990, A COPY OF THE DRAFT IS SENT TO MEMBERS OF THE AUDIT COMMITTEE.
