PART 1 LINE 1 SUMMARY OF EXEMPT PURPOSE: The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties is an organization led by a board of local leaders that carefully stewards an endowment to meet changing community needs and manages 300 charitable funds for like-minded individuals, families, businesses and nonprofits who are connected by their passion for making a difference. As one of Florida's largest community foundations, the Community Foundation has awarded $139 million in grants and scholarships over its 45-year history. We believe philanthropy is essential to building healthy communities. HELPING OUR DONORS MAKE AN IMPACT For donors, the Community Foundation offers philanthropic guidance, leadership and stewardship that is rooted in a deep knowledge of our community. We help our donors fulfill their philanthropic vision and honor their passions -- whether it's responding to an urgent need, supporting a particular cause or organization, creating a family legacy or partnering in a Community Foundation initiative. Together, we address challenges, seek solutions and provide support to create vibrant communities where individuals and families flourish. Through the generosity of our donors, we award millions in grants and scholarships each year that continue to build and strengthen the communities we live in and love. STRENGTHENING OUR COMMUNITIES For the community, the Community Foundation serves as a grant maker and a civic leader. We award grants to local organizataions to help meet community needs, fulfill our donors' philanthropic wishes and strengthen the nonprofit sector. Using local knowledge, networks, influence and creativity, the Community Foundation brings people together to improve the community's quality of life now and in the future. We challenge our nonprofit partners to create innovative proposals, engage in dialogue to discover new opportunities and provide ideas for collective solutions. PROVIDING COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP We are involved in Palm Beach and Martin counties by encouraging conversations, asking questions and bringing community partners together to address critical issues affecting our children, families and neighborhoods. We forge productive partnerships to develop sustainable solutions to tackle the many challenges facing our communities, and are willing to take risks and make long-term investments for positive change. Through the support of our donors and fundholders, the Community Foundation has been able to address some of the community's most pressing needs, including hunger, housing and education.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b The Form 990 and 990-T is presented to and reviewed by the audit committee prior to filing.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c A conflict of interest statement is completed and submitted annually by the officers, directors and key employees for review by the CFO for potential conflicts of interest. The form must be completed and submitted prior to the beginning of the fiscal year.
