Form 990, Schedule D, Part X, Line 2: The Foundation is a nonprofit corporation exempt from income taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code whereby only unrelated business income, as defined by Section 512(a)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code, is subject to Federal income tax. The Foundation applies the provisions of ASC No. 740 relating to accounting for uncertainty in income taxes. The Foundation annually reviews its tax returns and positions taken in accordance with the recognition standards. The Foundation believes that it has no uncertain tax position which would require disclosure or adjustment as of December 31, 2018 or 2017. The Foundation classifies all interest and penalties related to tax contingencies as income tax expense. As of December 31, 2018 and 2017, there were no accrued interest or penalties. The Foundation files tax returns in the U.S. Federal Jurisdiction and the State of Alaska. As of December 31, 2018, the tax years that remain subject to examination are 2015, 2016 and 2017.
