THE MISSION OF THE SOUTHERN ENVIRONMENTAL LAW CENTER IS TO PROTECT THE BASIC RIGHT TO CLEAN AIR, AND CLEAN WATER; TO PRESERVE OUR REGIONS ASTONISHING NATURAL TREASURES AND REMARKABLE BIODIVERSITY; AND TO PROVIDE A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL. FORM 990, PART I, LINE 10 - SUMMARY IN THE PRIOR YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION CHANGED INVESTMENT FIRMS, RESULTING IN THE SALE OF ALL INVESTMENT HOLDING TO TRANSFER ASSETS TO THE NEW INVESTMENT FIRM. THIS SALE RESULTED IN A REALIZED GAIN OF 20,411,628 WHICH IS INCLUDED IN THE PREVIOUS YEARS INVESTMENT INCOME AND REVENUE TOTAL ON PAGE 1. HOWEVER, THIS REALIZED GAIN WAS OFFSET BY UNREALIZED LOSSES OF 18,228,210 REPORTED SEPARATELY IN THE PRIOR YEAR FORM 990. THE ORGANIZATIONS NET REALIZED AND UNREALIZED GAINS WERE 2,183,418 DURING THE PREVIOUS FISCAL YEAR. |
