LITTLE LIGHT HOUSE, INC. SEEKS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES BY INCREASING THE COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND PROVIDING CHRISTIAN BASED SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL AND THERAPEUTIC SERVICES FOR CHILDREN AGES BIRTH THROUGH SIX YEARS OF AGE. CHILDREN'S SERVICES INCLUDE: YEAR-ROUND SCHOOL FOR 141 SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN IN AN ON-SITE CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT. ON-SITE SERVICES INCLUDE EVALUATION, SPECIAL EDUCATION, PHYSICAL THERAPY, OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY, SPEECH THERAPY, ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY, LOW VISION THERAPY AND NURSING. INCLUSION OF 18 TYPICAL CHILDREN IN THE CLASSROOMS. MONTHLY PARENT MEETINGS HELD BY ZOOM FOR IN-SERVICE TRAINING PURPOSES. WITH OVER 195 ON THE WAITING LIST FOR SERVICES, TWICE-MONTHLY PROGRAMS AVAILABLE TO PARENTS; THESE PROGRAMS EDUCATE PARENTS ON HOW THEY CAN ENCOURAGE THEIR CHILD OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT. PARTICIPATED IN COMMUNITY EDUCATION BY TRAINING PROFESSIONAL STUDENTS FROM COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES WITHIN DRIVING DISTANCE TO THE LITTLE LIGHT HOUSE. ENCOURAGED GROWTH IN THE NUMBER OF CHILDREN BEING SERVED AT ONE AFFILIATE ORGANIZATION FROM OTHER STATES WITH SITE VISITS; THIS AFFILIATE SHARES THE NAME OF THE LITTLE LIGHT HOUSE, BUT IS ORGANIZED AND GOVERNED SEPARATELY. WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING TO OPEN A SECOND AFFILIATE. PROVIDED TRAINING LOCALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY THROUGH OUR ONLINE TRAINING CENTER AS AN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE FOR FAMILIES OF CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AND PROFESSIONALS WHO WORK WITH THEM. HELD OKLAHOMA PARENT CENTER TRAINING FALL OF 2019. HOSTED INTERNS FROM LOCAL UNIVERSITIES AND PROGRAMS FOR VARYING LENGTHS OF TIME IN THEIR RELATED FIELDS. HOSTED WEEKLY GATHERINGS FOR THE FAMILIES OF LITTLE LIGHT HOUSE STUDENTS IN ORDER TO FACILITATE THE BUILDING OF RELATIONSHIPS. HOSTED ON-SITE VOLUNTEERS. PARTICIPATED IN MULTIPLE CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSES AS REQUIRED TO RETAIN LICENSURE IN PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATED AREAS (PT, OT, SP). CONTINUED TO EXPAND AND DEVELOP THE FUNCTIONS OF THE TRANS DISCIPLINARY TEAM IN STUDENT STAFFINGS, STUDENT ACTION PLANS FOR INDIVIDUAL EDUCATIONAL PLANS AND DEVELOPMENT OF SMART GOALS. WORKED WITH UNIVERSITY OF TULSA SENIOR ENGINEERING STUDENTS TO DEVELOP TECHNOLOGY TO USE WITH OUR CHILDREN, AND WITH MAKE A DIFFERENCE ENGINEERING TO DEVELOP INTERACTIVE APPS FOR USE WITH IPADS TO COMPLIMENT BIBLE BASED CURRICULUM (BBC). WE ARE INVOLVED WITH THE UNIVERSTIY OF TULSA IN A NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION STUDYING EFFECTS OF EXTERNAL TECHNOLOGY ON HEAD CONTROL. EXPANDED ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS IMPLEMENTED AT LITTLE LIGHT HOUSE WITH EXPANDED INTERNAL TRAINING OF TEACHERS AND THERAPISTS. |
