Form 990-EZ, Part I, Line 16 | The Experimental Farm Network Cooperative incurs a number of costs not directly related to the production and sale of seeds (which supplies most of our revenue other than contributions), but related to other programming. These include, but are not limited to: transportation and travel costs, conference fees, food and beverages for volunteers (we rely on volunteer labor for tasks from farming to seed cleaning to packaging and shipping), equipment, supplies, and construction related to our agricultural research (that is, farming tasks not related to seed sales), seeds and plants, office supplies, meeting costs, donations to partner organizations, packaging and shipping of seeds intended for research or charitable purposes (we launched a major free seed distribution project at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic), and professional development for core volunteers. |
Form 990-EZ, Part II, Line 24 | In addition to existing assets (valued at $24,203), our end-of-year calculation of the value of current seed inventory (tabulated based on costs to us and fair-market-value wholesale prices) comes to $22,448, for a total of $46,651. |
Form 990-EZ, Part II, Line 26 | A personal loan from Co-Director Nathan Kleinman made during FY 2017 in the form of equipment valued at $12,455 remains a liability for the organization, along with $1350 in costs associated with web hosting which have been charged to Mr. Kleinman's personal debit card since FY 2017. These liabilities total $13,805. |
