SEATTLE INDIAN HEALTH BOARD: |
THIS GRANT WILL PROVIDE EMERGENCY FUNDING FOR SEATTLE INDIAN HEALTH BOARD'S TRADITIONAL MEDICINE PROGRAM, INCLUDING THE OPERATION OF THEIR ELDERS PROGRAM. THE NEED FOR THIS FUNDING IS DUE TO THE SHUTDOWN OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. SEATTLE INDIAN HEALTH BOARD HAS INDICATED THAT THEIR TRADITIONAL MEDICINE PROGRAM IS AN ESSENTIAL SERVICE FOR MANY OF THEIR CLIENTS. DISCONTINUATION OF THE PROGRAM WOULD HAVE A SEVERE AND LASTING NEGATIVE IMPACT ON THE HEALTH OF NATIVE PEOPLE IN SEATTLE. |
