Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 28 | The books were carefully selected with the help of the Isabel Schon International Center for Spanish Books for Youth at the San Deigo Public Library. In December, Reading is Power, in collaboration with Richland Library, Columbia Housing Authority and University of South Carolina professor and childrens book author Dianne Johnson-Feelings, donated 969 books that created 70 home libraries. The home libraries were delivered just before Christmas to 70 well deserving 1st graders that live in homes managed by Columbia Housing Authority. The purpose of the project was to encourage these childrens love of books and reading. Reading is Power adult volunteers labeled and packaged each of the 70 libraries that were delivered to the children by staff of the Richland Library. |
