PART I, LINE 2: GRANTS ARE MONITORED BY THE MADISON METROPOLITAN SCHOOL DISTRICT'S OFFICE OF BUDGET, PLANNING AND ACCOUNTING. GRANT RECIPIENTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT AN EVALUATION REPORT TO THE FOUNDATION FOR MADISON'S PUBLIC SCHOOLS AT THE END OF THE GRANT PERIOD.
PAGE 1, PART II IN 2020, THE FOUNDATION FOR MADISON'S PUBLIC SCHOOLS WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE THE MADISON METROPOLITAN SCHOOL DISTRICT (MMSD) WITH VARIOUS TARGETED SUPPLY KITS AND OTHER CRUCIAL SCHOOL SUPPLIES. MMSD DISTRIBUTED SUPPLIES TO ALL 50 SCHOOLS AND 4 SPECIAL PROGRAMS, WHO IN TURN ENSURED THE STUDENTS WITH THE GREATEST NEED RECEIVED THEM. IN SEPTEMBER, IN RESPONSE TO THE SHIFT TO VIRTUAL SCHOOL NECESSITATED BY COVID-19, MORE THAN 100 VOLUNTEERS GATHERED AT A SOCIALLY DISTANCED EVENT AT THE ALLIANT ENERGY CENTER AND ASSEMBLED 2,500 SUPPLY KITS FOR STUDENTS OF ALL AGES WITH ITEMS SUCH AS PENCILS, MARKERS, EARBUDS, WHITE BOARDS, AND MUCH MORE. THESE KITS ALLOWED STUDENTS TO HAVE THE MATERIALS THEY NEEDED TO ENGAGE WITH THEIR CLASS. IN OCTOBER 2020, THE FOUNDATION USED IT'S PILOT MODEL TO CREATE AN ONLINE SHOPPING PORTAL WITH COMMUNITY PARTNER EZ OFFICE PRODUCTS THROUGH WHICH SCHOOLS ORDERED EVEN MORE ESSENTIAL SUPPLIES, RESULTING IN AN ADDITIONAL 1,500 SUPPLY KITS. ALL TOLD, MORE THAN 4,000 SCHOOL SUPPLY KITS WERE CREATED FOR HIGH-NEED STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT, RANGING IN AGE FROM 4K TO HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS. IN DECEMBER 2020, 100 WELLNESS KITS WERE ASSEMBLED FOR ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS THROUGH THE INTENSIVE INTERVENTION PROGRAM. THESE KITS INCLUDED SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL) ITEMS SUCH AS JOURNALS, FOAM ROLLERS, AND RESISTANCE BANDS TO SUPPORT CLASSROOM ENGAGEMENT AND MENTAL HEALTH OF STUDENTS IN NEED OF ADDITIONAL SUPPORT.
