Pt VI, Line 12c The organization's staff maintains forms completed by members of the Board of Directors of potential conflicts and updates this information throughout the year. If questions related to a potential conflict arise, a discussion of such is held at the next meeting of the Board of Directors before any financial decisions are made or related activity begins.
Pt VI, Line 15a Compensation of the Executive Director is discussed by the Board of Directors as part of the annual budgeting process. Proposed compensation is compared to similarly situated employees at comparable not-for-profit organizations. The Executive Director's credentials and performance evaluations are also considered. Discussions and decisions are documented.
Pt VI, Line 15b Other than the Executive Director, the organization does not have other officers or key employees.
Pt VI, Line 19 The organization's annual Form 990 is available on the Guidestar website. The organization's governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements are provided to funders upon request and to other upon request as approved by the Executive Director.
Pt III, Line 3 The farmworkers and their families that MFAF serves were designated as essential workers at the start of the pandemic. MFAF staff, as a direct service provider, were also designated as essential workers. Although this allowed MFAF to continue to work directly with the farmworkers and their families, significant changes to daily operations were required to maintain appropriate safety precautions. Larger group meetings were changed to multiple small group settings. Additional direct services were provided to assist with delivering food and other essential items directly to homes so the clients could avoid traveling distances to crowded stores. When schools closed, MFAF provided assistance to parents with navigating on-line school work, translating English only lessons and addressing poor internet service. Overnight summer camp sessions and field trips were cancelled, but many front yard activities were organized as an alternative. In-person medical and dental appointments did occur, including providing COVID-19 testing, but staff also assisted with phone interpretation.
