AK-MPRN contracts vessel tracking and monitoring to another tax-exempt entity, Marine Exchange of Alaska. The former Chairman of AK-MPRN Board of Directors is also the Executive Director at the Marine Exchange of Alaska who resigned from the Network's Board of Directors in October 2016, but is still considered an "Interested Person." The amount paid for services rendered during the year ended December 31, 2020 was $900,000. A new APC provider entered the market space in 2015 and subsequently another one in 2016. Any ongoing and future contracts with the Marine Exchange of Alaska needs to ensure payment is fair and reasonable to ensure no excess benefits are being provided to this related party. |
