Return Reference Explanation
General explanation attachment Line 28 (Program Accomplishments): Kore Press is an intersectional feminist literary arts organization dedicated to creating more just and radically connected communities through the transformative power of deep engagement in literary, community, and social practice arts. By amplifying and celebrating all womens voices with publishing, education, and community engagement, Kore builds social and cultural cohesion for healthier communities.Kore fulfilled the publishing and promotion aspect of its mission byreleasing, promoting and distributing one new poetry title by K.M. English, WaveSays, and a memoir by Candace Opper, Certain And Impossible Events. Promotion includes pre-pub publicity/reviewer outreach, promoting author events, running sales, circulating author news, etc. Other titles developed during the years editorial / manuscript preparation process: a poetic memoir by Alexis Orgera, Head Case, about her fathers Alzheimers; Poetry Prize winners Gash Atlas--by Jessica Johnson--and Alexis Jacksons My Sisters Country; and Tracie Morris handholding 2. We produced and presented 4 live storytelling events (community arts, celebrating womens voices) featuring 21 storytellers total, with audiences between 40-100 at each event. Events were recorded, which produced 21 individual stories and 4 podcastable audio segments. These are processed and are being archived online. In terms of Kores educational and social practice engagement, we continued to convene a think tank for creating safer classrooms for LGBTQIA+ youth in Arizona with literature, reflection, and storytelling. We mentored 5 college-aged young people in publishing and literary organizing. Additionally, Kore published occasional online newsletters and presented original content online and in social media campaigns.
