Return Reference Explanation
Schedule J, Part I, Line 1a Travel for companions Due to Covid shutdown, there was no executive travel in the fiscal year. However, we have a policy for non-board member guests of board members, IES paid for all associated additional expenses for guests of board members. The non-board member cost of the events was included on a 1099 issued to each respective IES Board member for the 2020 calendar year.
Schedule J, Part I, Line 1a Tax indemnification and gross-up payments Prior to retirement, the President of the organization had her own supplemental long term disability insurance for which IES reimbursed her. The organization also paid the tax attributable to the reimbursement. The benefit was included in taxable compensation. Since her retirement, and in accordance with her contract, she receives reimbursement for the personal tax liability resulting from the taxable portion of her spouse's post-employment health benefit. This is included in taxable compensation.
