Crop biodiversity conservation, farm development, and food production. Funds supported the work of the Palestine Heirloom Seed Library project started by Ms. Vivien Sansour in Bethlehem, West Bank (Palestinian Territories). Our organization has assumed programmatic responsibility for the project and we exercise oversight of all operations through regular reporting and photo and video documentation. In-person field investigations have not been possible due to pandemic travel restrictions, but one key employee/officer intends to travel there in early 2023. All funds were disbursed locally in the West Bank by Vivien Sansour, either directly to contractors or through local employees (namely Charin Singh, Hassan Muammar, Sameh Tayseer, Hamzeh Oweneh, Fatmeh Abu Hassan, and Rua Badir), after funds were transferred to a credit union account which she can access in the West Bank. No individuals receiving funds appear in the Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctions list. ReturnReference Explanation
Schedule F, Part I, Line 2 While travel restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic have thus far prevented officers of the organization from visiting our operations in the West Bank, we have relied on trusted colleagues who are required to send photographic evidence demonstrating the proper use of funds and to file annual reports detailing expenditures. Our colleague and close collaborator Vivien Sansour is in regular contact with colleagues on the ground, and she has been able to visit (as she has Palestinian nationality in addition to US citizenship). Furthermore, now that pandemic restrictions between Israel and the Palestinian Terrotories have eased, we do intend to make a field investigation trip to the West Bank ourselves in 2023, to personally verify what we regularly see in photos and videos.
Schedule F, Part III The number of recipients is an estimate based on the number of farmers receiving direct assistance in the form of construction projects, tree plantings, seeds, or other farm development projects.
