Return Reference Explanation
Form 990, Part III, Line 1 The Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies (FAPE) is dedicated to enhancing the United States' image abroad through American Art. Founded as a public-private, non-partisan partnership in 1986, FAPE works with the U.S. Department of State to contribute fine art to U.S. embassies around the world. FAPE's donations include works by more than 250 preeminent American artists placed in more than 140 countries.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 2 Jo Carole Lauder and Aerin Lauder Zinterhofer have a family relationship.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b The 990 is presented to our Treasurer for review and approval.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c Any Board Member or employee of FAPE that has any direct or indirect interest in, or relationship with, any individual or organization which proposes to enter into any transaction with FAPE, gives notice of such to the Chairman of the Audit Committee, a Member of the Board, and recuses him/herself from discussing or voting on the particular transaction in which he/she has an interest, otherwise attempting to exert any influence on FAPE, and/or affecting the Board's decision to participate in such transaction. If a potential conflict arises during the course of a meeting and it is not practical for the Director to give notice to the Chair of the Audit Committee, the Board Member discloses the potential conflict to the Board as soon as practical thereafter, and the Board then decides what action is appropriate.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15 The FAPE Board of Director's Executive Committee reviews and must approve all actions relating to compensation. The Committee reviews comparable data, based off of their other Non-Profit Board experiences. The Committee then presents action for approval by the full Board. There is contemporaneous substantiation of the deliberation and decision. The last salary review for the Director took place in Summer 2017.
Form 990, Part VI, Section C, line 19 The Organization makes its governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements available to the public upon request.
Form 990, Part XII, line 2c The organization's oversight process of audit has been consistent with prior years.
