Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b The Executive Director and his Administrative Assistant both review the Form 990.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c The Executive Director monitors all activities within the organization. He is in close contact with the board President and all possible conflicts are resolved at this level.
Form 990, Part VI, Section C, line 19 The governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements are available at company headquarters upon request.
Form 990, Part XI, line 9: Section 481A adjustment -1,745,570. Rounding -1.
Form 990, Part XII, Line 1: Due to unpredictability of the patients' ability to pay, the large amount of fees receivable, COVID-19 complications, and the unreliability of the billing services used it became increasingly difficult to maintain accurate books on the accrual basis of accounting. Therefore the cash basis of accounting was adopted as of January 1, 2020.
Reasonable Cause for Late Filing Trenton Emergency Medical Service (TEMS) acknowledges that this Form 990 was filed late. At the time of the original and extended due dates TEMS was on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, transporting COVID victims daily. As the pandemic raged, TEMS' resources were stretched thin and the appropriate time could not be allocated to the administrative functions of the organization - including the accounting function. Instead, TEMS prioritized the health of the Trenton community. The leadership of TEMS is aware of the 990 reporting requirements and has filed this 2020 Form 990 in an effort to come into compliance. TEMS provides valuable lifesaving support to the Trenton community. Payment of any penalties would restrict their ability to provide this much needed support. Due to the reasons explained above, we respectfully request that all penalties and interest be abated.
