As a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic beginning in March 2020, CIEE's program operations were disrupted by no travel, quarantine, and shelter at home mandates. Management reacted swiftly to minimize the impact of the loss of revenue and CIEE has successfully weathered the pandemic. |

The 990 Form is prepared by an independent public accounting firm from materials of the Organization provided by management. A copy of the Form 990 is shared with the entire board before filing on an annual basis. A draft of the 990 is reviewed by the CEO, CFO, and Controller and then reviewed with the Board Executive Committee prior to filing. |

The Board of Directors, officers and key employees are required to sign and date, on an annual basis, a Conflict of Interest Statement which discloses any potential conflicts of interest. |

The Organization commissions a compensation study periodically regarding compensation paid to the CEO as well as other officers and key employees. This study is comprehensive in nature and includes comparative data. There is also an annual goal setting and performance appraisal process for all officers and key employees. These are discussed and reviewed by the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. |
