NUEVA ESPERANZA, INC SERVES TO: 1. Raise the economic, educational and social levels of poor, distressed, displaced and underprivileged Hispanic and other individuals who are substantially unemployed, underemployed or whose income is below established poverty guidelines; to foster and promote community-wide interest and concern for the problems of Hispanic and other individuals and families to end: a. Sickness, poverty, crime, spiritual and environmental degradation may be eliminated; and, b. Educational, vocational and economic opportunities may be expanded; and c. Racial and ethnic tension, prejudice and discrimination, social economic and otherwise, may be eliminated. 2. Raise the economic, educational, spiritual and social levels of Hispanic and other individuals, families, and other groups by expanding their opportunities to own, manage and operate local and/or neighborhood enterprises by providing assistance and other related support to Hispanic and other individuals and groups in developing entrepreneurial and management skills necessary for the successful operation of business enterprises and by providing assistance to Hispanic and other residents and groups in obtaining financial, managerial and development support to achieve these ends; 3. Construct, repair, rehabilitate and otherwise improve residential units and commercial facilities in the community which impact on the quality of life, safety and wellbeing of residents and groups. To make such housing available to low and moderate income Hispanics and other individuals and families through rental, ownership and corporate and cooperative ownership programs; 4. Develop specific programs of community involvement and service delivery to Hispanic and other elderly, single parent households, youth, homeless, distressed and other special sector groups which are designed to improve their quality of life, safety and general well-being; 5. Coordinate, facilitate and cooperate with agencies of local, state and Federal governments, as well as private agencies and groups to improve the quality and scope of service, care and protection offered to disadvantaged and distressed members of the community; and; 6. Conduct educational and other efforts to inform the general community about the corporation and its purpose and programs, to eliminate prejudice and discrimination in the general community while expanding economic and educational opportunities. 7. Present arts and cultural programming for the Latino community and Hunting Park residents at the Esperanza Arts Center, which serves the needs of Hispanics, and other individuals and families by improving the quality of life through the arts. Featured artists engage patrons, children, and their families through music, dance, theater, cinema, and the visual arts encouraging creativity, empathy, and compassion. |
