THE FOUNDATION IS COMMITTED TO FURTHERING A QUALITY LIFE FOR PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES BY ADDRESSING FUNDAMENTAL NEEDS THAT ARE NOT COVERED ANYWHERE ELSE. THE FOUNDATION'S FOCUS HAS BEEN ON PROVIDING EVERYDAY BASICS, TECHNOLOGY/COMMUNICATIONS, MOBILITY AND SKILL BUILDING/INCLUSION EXPERIENCES. OFTEN THESE ARE PERCEIVED AS SMALL THINGS, YET FOR PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS THESE THINGS CAN BE LIFE CHANGING. OVER 4,500 INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES HAVE BEEN IMPACTED BY THE FOUNDATION - EASING EXTRAORDINARY STRESSES OF EVERYDAY LIVING, STABILIZING HOME ENVIRONMENTS, FOSTERING COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, AND BUILDING SELF-RELIANCE AND PRIDE. AS A RESULT OF LEARNING OVER 25 YEARS, AND RECENT INPUT FROM STAKEHOLDERS, EXPERTS, COMMUNITY AND ESPECIALLY THE FEEDBACK FROM THOSE SERVED, THE FUTURES FOUNDATION HAS EVOLVED ITS MISSION. IN ADDITION TO GROWING EFFORTS TO DATE, KEY EFFORTS ARE UNDERWAY WORKING WITH PARTNERS ON DEVELOPING SYSTEMATIC SOLUTIONS TO ELEVATE THE DIRECT CARE WORKFORCE IN HOME AND COMMUNITY SETTINGS. WITH THE ONSET OF COVID-19, THE DIRECT CARE WORKFORCE IN HOME AND COMMUNITY BASED SETTINGS WAS NOT INITIALLY DEEMED AN ESSENTIAL WORKFORCE, AND THUS NOT PRIORITIZED IN THE RECEIPT OF PPE. WHILE A SMALL DENT IN WHAT WAS NEEDED, THE FUTURES FOUNDATION WORKED IN COLLABORATION WITH PROVIDERS TO IDENTIFY IMMEDIATE NEEDS AND SUBSEQUENTLY IDENTIFY SOURCES, PROCURE, FUND AND DELIVER PPE TO OVER 3,000 DIRECT CARE WORKERS IN HOME AND COMMUNITY BASED SETTINGS. THE FUTURES FOUNDATION CONTINUES TO SERVE IN LEADERSHIP ON THE STATE OF MICHIGAN'S DIRECT CARE WORK TASK FORCE ENSURING THE VOICE OF PROVIDERS AND CONSTITUENTS. |

IN 2012 AN ADDITIONAL MARKET SURVEY WAS COMPLETED BY ORGANIZATIONAL CONSULTING GROUP, LLC, WHICH WAS SPECIFIC TO EXECUTIVE STAFF. THE BOARD HAS A COMMITTEE CONSISTING OF TWO BOARD MEMBERS FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE FULL BOARD REGARDING COMPENSATION ISSUES. |
