What is the organization's primary exempt purpose?
To combat ALL forms of community violence through activism and organizing
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.

Chapters/Community Organizing: We have rebranded into one chapter called Take Action Mon Valley (TAMV) for Allegheny County. We have 13 members from various areas including McKeesport, Duquesne, Homestead, Clairton, Swissvale/Braddock, Penn Hills and Turtle Creek. This also includes our youth chapter with six members from McKeesport and West Mifflin. They each had an organizer working with them to complete a SWOT analysis and develop a community action plan (CAP). The CAP's consisted of various issues such as communication with elected officials, systematic barriers with the criminal justice system, police accountability, economic development, voter engagement and jobs. A majority of the CAP's were centered around responding to neighborhood street violence. Members & staff attended eight local and school board meetings. They also participated in more than six court hearings as advocates. In conjunction with a TAAG organizer, members directly engaged with elected officials, judges, and key judicial staff to ensure their voices were heard.

Workshops, Storytelling, Training & Community Consulting: This programming is done with an emphasis on Black Libera on movement building, community organizing, sustaining/staying in the movement, rapid response and race relations. It is essential for us to explore, educate, and shift the mindsets of those who are living, serving, and/or working in marginalized communities. We do this by offering workshops and training around community organizing, advocacy work, mental wellness, and more to community partners, leaders, organizations, and individuals. In 2023 we organized two community training sessions to educate people on the fundamental principles of community organizing and action planning. Additionally, we obtained two consulting contracts with Penn State University and Women for A Healthy Environment. Through these partnerships, we conducted training sessions on community engagement, organizing, food insecurity, environmental justices and action planning. Furthermore, we collaborated on the development of advocacy plans and assisted in facilitating community meetings to address food insecurity in Black communities, as well as environmental justice issues like lead contamination and access to safe drinking water. Additionally, we published 10 blogs on our website regarding advocacy cases and implemented a monthly podcast where we highlight social justice issues (11 podcast were done via Facebook live). Wellness Sessions: Last year, we held eight wellness sessions. Specifically, two with the YWCA on racial healing and six with Melanie Mommies Pittsburgh. During these sessions, we focused on racism and providing assistance to Black mothers who have lost their children to jail or community violence. Nineteen BIPOC community members participated in the sessions with the YWCA, while nine Black women took part in the sessions with Melanie Mommies Pgh

Short-Term Social Justice Compliant Program/Victim Advocacy: TAAG assisted 44 people with addressing social justice issues in our social justice compliant program. We also affectionately call this ?abolition social work?. Here we help community members develop the necessary skills to advocate for systemic changes. The majority of the complaints were related to complaints around police violence, including incidents of police brutality, murder, harassment, and unjust charges. Additionally, other complaints included neighbor harassment based on race and sexual orientation, pedestrian safety concerns, unsafe conditions in Allegheny County Jail (ACJ), systematic issues with local agencies such as CYF, meditation for neighbor disputes and street violence/murder, relocation or house repair assistance, court support, eviction issues, and housing discrimination with McKeesport Housing Authority, as well as a lack of responsiveness from the police force when investigating homicides of BIPOC community members.
