SCHEDULE I, PAGE 1, PART I, LINE 2 CASH ASSISTANCE - NO CHECKS ARE CUT DIRECTLY TO INDIVIDUALS; THEY ARE ALL PAID TO THE LANDLORD OR THE GAS/ELECTRIC COMPANY, ETC. FILES ARE MAINTAINED FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL/FAMILY AND THESE PEOPLE ARE PROVIDED COUNSELING REGARDING FINANCES, ETC. TO HELP DETER THEIR NEED FOR ASSISTANCE IN THE FUTURE - THERE IS A FAMILY SERVICES DIRECTOR WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. NON-CASH ASSISTANCE IN THE FORM OF USED CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS RECEIVED AS CONTRIBUTIONS AND PROVIDED TO INDIVIDUALS AS NEEDED. THE ITEMS THAT ARE PROVIDED TO INDIVIDUALS ARE MONITORED BY VOLUNTEERS; THE ORGANIZATION HAS A ROOM THAT HAS DESIGNATED HOURS AND IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC TO TAKE THINGS AS NEEDED. WMFC AS HELPED DISTRIBUTE SURPLUS FOOD AND GOODS THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY FOR DECADES. WMFC PARTNERS WITH VARIOUS LOCAL COMPANIES TO DONATE EXCESS FOOD AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS FOR THE COMMUNITY. FOR 2022, WMFC DISTRIBUTED OVER 512,000 POUNDS OF FOOD TO LOCAL RESIDENTS. IN 2021, NEARLY 528,000 POUNDS WAS DISTRIBUTED. WMFC ASSIGNED AN ESTIMATED VALUE FOR THESE ITEMS. FOR REFERENCE, THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE GUIDELINE FOR THE WEIGHT OF ONE MEAL AVERAGES 1.2 POUNDS OF FOOD. FEEDING AMERICA CALCULATES THE VALUE OF A MEAL AT 3.19 PER MEAL FOR 2022 AND 3.13 PER MEAL FOR 2021. BASED ON THE ABOVE REFERENCED GUIDELINES, THE ESTIMATED DONATED VALUE FOR 2022 WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,360,000 AND 1,376,000 IN 2021. DURING 2022, WMFC ALSO RECEIVED A VARIETY OF OTHER TYPES OF NONFINANCIAL DONATIONS FROM NEARBY STORES TO DISTRIBUTE TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AS WELL AS TO ASSIST WITH THE CENTERS OPERATIONS. EXAMPLES INCLUDE CLOTHING, HOME FURNISHINGS, APPLIANCES, TOYS & GAMES, TOOLS, ELECTRONICS, HEALTH & BEAUTY, SEASONAL ITEMS, SPORTS EQUIPMENT AND OFFICE SUPPLIES. IN 2022, WMFC RECEIVED A LARGE QUANTITY OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO DISTRIBUTE TO SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT MIDLAND, BAY AND ISABELLA COUNTIES. IN TOTAL, THE CENTER RECEIVED 28 PALLETS OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES. THE ESTIMATED FAIR VALUE OF ALL NONFOOD ITEMS DONATED WAS APPROXIMATELY 548,000 FOR 2022 AND 200,000 FOR 2021. THE FAIR VALUE WAS DETERMINED BY USING A COMBINATION OF THE RETAIL PRICE TAG FOR THE ITEMS WITH THE TAG STILL INTACT, AS WELL AS USING COMPARABLE SECONDHAND RESALE SHOP PRICES. THE CENTER ALSO USED AN AVERAGE DOLLAR AMOUNT AND AVERAGE NUMBER OF ITEMS DISTRIBUTED EACH MONTH.
