FORM 990, PART VI, SECTION A, LINE 3 EFFECTIVE 12/1/2017 EXPANDED SCHOOLS BEGAN LEASING ITS EMPLOYEES FROM A THIRD PARTY PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYER SERVICE ORGANIZATION. THIS SERVICE ORGANIZATION REPORTS ALL EMPLOYEES AND EARNINGS UNDER ITS OWN TAX IDENTIFICATION NUMBER. FOR REPORTING AND DISCLOSURE PURPOSES, COMPENSATION HAS BEEN REFLECTED ON FORM 990, PART VII AND SCHEDULE J.
FORM 990, PART VI, SECTION B, LINE 11B REVIEW OF FORM 990: THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS DESIGNATED THE FINANCE COMMITTEE OF THE BOARD TO REVIEW THE FORM 990. THE REVIEW TAKES PLACE AT A FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING. FOLLOWING THE MEETING, ALL DIRECTORS RECEIVE A COPY OF THE FINAL 990 BEFORE IT IS FILED.
FORM 990, PART VI, SECTION B, LINE 12C CONFLICT OF INTEREST: THE ORGANIZATION'S EMPLOYEE MANUAL INCLUDES ITS CONFLICT-OF-INTEREST AND GIFT POLICY. EACH NEW EMPLOYEE IS REQUIRED TO READ THE CONFLICT-OF-INTEREST POLICY AND SIGN AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT INDICATING THAT THEY UNDERSTAND AND ARE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE POLICY. THE CONFLICT-OF-INTEREST POLICY IS ALSO A PART OF NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATIONS WHICH ALL NEW EMPLOYEES ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND. ALL MEMBERS OF THE LEADERSHIP TEAM (VPS AND DIRECTORS) MUST DISCLOSE TO THE PRESIDENT ANY SUBSTANTIAL FINANCIAL INTERESTS, AFFILIATIONS, OR OTHER SIGNIFICANT RELATIONSHIPS WITH ENTITIES WITH WHICH THE ORGANIZATION IS, OR IS CONSIDERING, CONDUCTING BUSINESS. ANNUALLY LEADERSHIP TEAM MEMBERS AND OFFICERS MUST READ THE CONFLICT-OF-INTEREST POLICY AND AFFIRM THEY ARE IN COMPLIANCE WITH ITS CONDITIONS. ANNUALLY, EACH MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS IS PROVIDED WITH A COPY OF THE ORGANIZATION'S CONFLICT-OF-INTEREST POLICY AND THEY ARE REQUIRED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY HAVE READ THE POLICY AND ARE IN COMPLIANCE.
FORM 990, PART VI, SECTION B, LINE 15 EXECUTIVE COMPENSATION: THE BOARD ESTABLISHES COMPENSATION GUIDELINES FOR THE ORGANIZATION WHICH INCLUDES REVIEW OF: 1) PUBLISHED SALARY SURVEYS FOR COMPARABLE POSITIONS AT ORGANIZATIONS SIMILAR TO EXPANDED SCHOOLS, INC.; 2) ECONOMIC INDICATORS; AND 3) THE PROPOSED BUDGET FOR THE NEXT FISCAL YEAR. A SPECIAL COMMITTEE OF THE BOARD APPROVES THE SALARY OF THE PRESIDENT.
