WE ARE CURRENTLY UNDERGOING A REORGANIZATION FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND TO MOVE AWAY FROM TRADITIONAL FUNDRAISING MODEL. OUR MAIN GOAL IS TO PROVIDE FREE COACHING TO VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS POST-DISASTER. WE ARE MOVING TOWARDS A FEE FOR CONSULT MODEL THAT ALSO FUNDS OUR WORK IN UNDER-RESOURCED AREAS, ESPECIALLY RURAL AND FRONTIER. OUR GOAL IS TO PERMANENTLY FUND OUR COMMUNITY PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE EQUITY, COACHING, LONG-TERM RECOVERY MODELING FOR MEGAFIRE COMMUNITIES. WE HAVE REDUCED OUR EXPENSES AND STAFF TO A PROJECT-BASED MODEL TO ALLOW FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND TO CONTINUE TO FOCUS THE MAJORITY OF OUR FUNDS ON HELPING MEGAFIRE LEADERS, SUCH AS MAUI, RECOVER AND REBUILD. |

THE ORGANIZATION'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS EVALUATED THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S COMPENSATION THROUGH A COMPARATIVE AND COMPETITIVE SALARY ANALYSIS FOR THE REGION AND BUDGET IN 2020. THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR WAS INTERVIEWED BY THREE (3) MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND ONE OUTSIDE ADVISOR IN 2020. THESE FOUR INTERVIEWERS MADE A RECOMMENDATION TO THE FULL BOARD OF DIRECTORS IN 2020 AND THE BOD APPROVED THE SALARY OF THE CURRENT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, WHO IS ALSO THE CEO. COMPENSATION LEVEL FOR THE CEO REMAINS THE SAME FOR THIS FY BY REQUEST OF THE CEO. THE INTENTION WAS AND IS TO FOCUS OUR REVENUES ON SERVING COMMUNITIES FREE OF CHARGE, THEREFORE THE DECISION WAS MADE WITH THE BOARD AND CEO TO RETAIN COMPENSATION LEVELS AND NOT PROVIDE AN INCREASE. |
