Over the past year, they’ve passed terrible laws restricting our freedoms and individual liberties. I won’t stand by while they slam the doors of opportunity in the face of people of color, particularly women of color.

This new majority-minority district needs an experienced, local leader who will proudly stand up to the big money corporate interests and right-wing agenda that dominate Tallahassee.

I also served Weston and Southwest Ranches, which make up another 11% of the district’s residents, when I was first elected Broward County Commissioner. I’m also a proud resident of the district, and have lived in it since 2001!

State Senate District 35 is an open, newly created seat. I’ve represented Miramar and Pembroke Pines, which make up 59% of the population in SD-35, for over a decade.
