Thank you @ChrisVanHollen and @SenatorCarper for introducing my bills giving DC control over its National Guard and repealing the president’s authority to federalize the DC police. These bills are critical after the occupation of DC streets by federal police and troops.

If you were to rank Confederate Generals who should not be honored, Albert Pike would be at the top of the list. https://t.co/0YkKLbLIdl

This is the last day to vote in person or by mail. #DC residents, who do not have full voting rights in Congress, should be sure to use the vote we do have. https://t.co/tdUIBskbFQ

Today, Tuesday June 2, is #PrimaryDay in DC. Even if there is an earlier curfew, city authorities have said residents will be permitted to proceed to the polls until they close at 8PM.

Turn on @MSNBC during the 10:00 am hour, when I'm scheduled to discuss #GeorgeFloyd, the protests and curfew enacted in DC, and President Trump's photo op in front of #St.John ’s Church last night.

Tune into CNN at 2:00 to hear me speak to @camanpour about George Floyd's tragic death and the ensuing protests over the weekend. #ChristianeAmanpour

100,000 American lives lost to #coronavirus. 100,000 grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins. Coworkers, neighbors, spouses, friends. Souls. Take a moment to remember those we’ve lost, then return to the fight. If we follow the science, these senseless losses will end. https://t.co/hf4Hhzf1yo

Tune in to WUSA9 tonight at 7:00. I’ll be on discussing my work ensuring consistent mail delivery in the District during this time when we’re more reliant than ever on mail.

I appreciate that @USFederalPrison has agreed to my request to send as many Hope Village residents to home confinement as possible.

1496885862512144388 bof695lv bigger

I also have asked that those without homes be sent to hotels, not to facilities outside the District. See my press release here.

I take a 30-minute walk around my neighborhood every evening, in wide-open uncrowded spaces, to get exercise. How are you keeping your minds and bodies healthy right now? Post with #DCSocialDistancing.

Many residents of DC cannot effectively #quarantine at home because they live closely together in apartments and row houses or are experiencing homelessness. We’re caring for people especially vulnerable to #coronavirus by arranging private hotel rooms for isolation. https://t.co/3LZgl1UjBP

The Kennedy Center got the money but not the message: Pay people – musicians and staff. Not your call to pick priorities over people. https://t.co/IvSz92vNab

The next #coronavirus bill is the time for Congress to finally permit DC to commercialize recreational marijuana. It is legal to possess two ounces but #DC can’t tax it. Taxing commercialization would help DC in this moment of great need for revenue. https://t.co/xhEOyY1mbS https://t.co/RSwt2mcyU3

The pending #coronavirus bill treats DC as a territory – not a state. Yet DC pays full federal taxes and is #1 in the US in federal taxes paid by residents. We are taking immediate action to assure that DC residents get the hundreds of millions we are due.

After receiving concerning reports last night, I wrote to @DC_Courts and @USMarshalsHQ encouraging them to take additional steps to protect detainees, court personnel, marshals and the public from the coronavirus. Read my letter below: https://t.co/ttvsTkfbRF

The @DC_Courts are now using authority that my bill – enacted into law in 2012 – gave our courts to delay judicial proceedings in case of emergencies. This authority eases concerns of residents who use our courts and ensures both criminal and civil justice stability.
