Zo: In 1923, the US v Singh stripped people from the Indian subcontinent of their citizenship. Only overturned in '46. I implore the Muslim and South Asian community to cause good trouble & recognize that the sacrifices that Black Americans made to achieve the right to vote. https://t.co/rneIR6hKTn

Ari: Not everyone follows the same style, but the concept of relational organizing, empowering people who are *already* naturally organizing their communities -- maybe it's the maven, the matriarch, or the auntie, or the community leader -- is especially powerful. https://t.co/NSVhFu4m7K

Ari: Organizing during a pandemic is hard, but one of the heartening things about organizing during a pandemic is that phone answer rates are very high, and organizers are able to have high quality, authentic conversations with interactions with voters digitally. https://t.co/LhXFxTcQ6o

Donisha: VDR laws make it difficult for people who move a lot to vote -- because in Texas you must be registered at your current address. That's by design -- and it creates additional impediments. So make sure you're registered at your current address. https://t.co/PXEugxP592

Zo: How to mobilize young people? Go to campus. Do the work. Show up. The worst thing politicians can do is ignore students and listen to the conventional wisdom that says "students don't vote." And have a message that young people actually respond to. https://t.co/vyhYK5qVl5

Donisha: Regarding voter education, there are so many people who are currently incarcerated but have not been convicted, *you can vote*. Convicted of a misdemeanor but in jail? *You can vote*. https://t.co/WsQMT7XH1W

Zo: HB104 was a bill in TX that aimed at ending prison-based gerrymandering -- currently if someone from Harris county is arrested in Victoria county, they count toward Victoria, not their county of residence. We need to end prison-based gerrymandering. https://t.co/8kJnVz0rj4

Julie: So what's the best place to learn your rights? Where *can* people turn to for a one-stop shop on how to know their rights? Josh: 1) County Elections Office should be your first stop. 2) @TXCivilRights 3) @ACLUTx 4) 866-OUR-VOTE https://t.co/AkmLkcRxmQ

Josh: Crystal Mason's case is particularly egregious because she *did not even vote* -- she cast a provisional ballot that was not counted, but Texas decided to intimidate Black voters by using an extreme punishment to scare people and confuse them. https://t.co/kBlZ7uDvcf

Donisha: Common voter suppression tactics in Texas are as simple as our voter id laws, you can use your gun license but not your student ID. But another issue is that a lot of people don't know their rights. If you're a felon who is off paper in Texas, you are eligible to vote!

Ari: Racial voter suppression cuts across class, county, state lines -- in precincts where there are more Black residents, you *will* face longer lines. Cure to voter suppression is to overwhelm them at the ballot box. It's why registering as many voters as we can is critical! https://t.co/TQQ9EXvOXK

Donisha: The state's history of voter suppression + a pandemic is a lot to take on in Texas. Stay social distanced, get to the polling location as early as you can, or request your absentee ballot as early as possible. *Make a plan*. https://t.co/Jog1zTu65U

Ari: Texas does not have true vote by mail -- so if you can, it's really important to take advantage of expanded early voting in Texas, which begins October 13. https://t.co/vgdZJctvgq

Last night a Black Lives Matter protester was killed in Austin when a motorist drove into the march and opened fire. Please join us in sending our love to the victim’s fiancée, family, and all of those whose lives have now been forever changed by witnessing this act of violence.

Later, it was presented by some political talking heads as some kind of moment of opportunism because she refused to just accept being accosted and ridiculed in public by a colleague -- which as @rtraister pointed out, makes the point for her. https://t.co/s3ZtuBkJfv
