Retirement savings declined for American families since the 2008 recession. An EPI study in 2013 showed 65% of white families, 41% of black families, and 26% of Hispanic families with some savings. And that's before the current recession! Too many of us will never get to retire.

On this #LaborDay I want to draw attention to the fact that we work 400 more hours per year than the Germans, a famously hard-working culture. We could be paid more & work less, with more time for family, but for a system that prefers low pay & insecurity for the majority.
