I recently learned the term “bank tenant” & I love it. Until you have that deed in hand, your mortgage is just the rent you pay to the bank. It defeats the “homeowner vs renter” divide that the establishment preys on by putting everyone on the same side.

In Bogotá, the capital of my mother’s homeland, they have el TransMilenio a bus rapid transit system they built to try to alleviate that city’s legendary traffic. If in they realized the best way to reduce traffic is by making it easier for ppl to stop using cars, we can too!

@swirlsonacake You're right; the more accurate thing to say would be "an affordable housing" shortage. There are different market sectors, & only housing getting built is what maximizes developer profit. Either way, I believe a big part of the solution is building more affordable housing.
