Capital has organized itself through globalization to gut our social safety nets. We need transnational solidarity to secure health care as a human right for all!

So much of what I have comes from others; my resolve - my mother, my education - my teachers and my soul - my neighbors in the #SouthBronx. As our campaign shifts to digital contact to check-in and connect with our neighbors, we could really use you help! https://t.co/pzXB1PaduH

The COVID-19 crisis has shown that we need High-Speed Internet for All. It’s time for the federal government to assist cities and states in building publicly-owned and democratically-controlled broadband networks as alternatives to private internet service providers (ISPs). 2/4
SamelysLopez (D-N.Y.)
@SamelysLopez
Private ISPs hold monopolies over broadband markets and notoriously underinvest in low-income neighborhoods that they deem insufficiently profitable--a practice often referred to as “digital redlining". We must breakup internet and cable giants with antitrust legislation. 3/4

@SamelysLopez
In the 21st century, high-speed internet service should be a public utility that everyone in the #SouthBronx deserves as a basic human right. Because the internet was developed using public taxpayer dollars, it's time we make internet access available to all for free. 4/4

While NYC public schools have moved to online, remote learning, thousands of students in #NY15 will not be able to learn from home because they do not have computers or internet access at home--the situation is dire for students in the shelter system. 1/4 https://t.co/VMouBYOzwo

While some in Congress ae focused on bailing out the airlines, it's the workers that need our immediate attention. We need to bailout the workers, not the bosses. @unitehere https://t.co/dXSG0X9hwt

Our campaign suspended petitioning in order to center our neighbors’ health and economic well-being alongside my NYC DSA slate colleagues @Phara4Assemvly @JabariBrisport, @ZohranKMamandi and @MarcelaforNY. 2/

We made clear that our values drive our campaigns, which is why we called for an end to moratoriums, universal paid sick leave/health care and increased economic protections for our vulnerable neighbors. 3/

We pledged not challenge petitions of NY-15 candidates. Today, @NYGovCuomo announced an EO that will lower the petition threshold & end the petitioning period on 3/17. I affirm the Gov’s decision since it aligns w/ my colleagues' call to center the health of our communities. 4/
