All day today, I’ve been speaking with community leaders from up and down the state Delaware about the work we have ahead. I’m on the way to another community listening session, but I wanted to share some brief thoughts on the day.
Most importantly, I am committed to listening. Right now, all elected officials need to listen more than we speak and make sure we don’t just listen, but truly hear what our communities are saying.
We’ve been in moments like this before and failed to make the major, structural changes that are required. This time must be different. It must be different.
It’s clear that our institutions that are supposed to provide justice for every American have failed. We must do more than repair them - we must remake them stronger than ever before.
This weekend, congregations around the country are mourning the deaths of more than 100,000 Americans to the COVID-19 pandemic, and tomorrow at noon, I invite you to join me in a brief moment of silence to remember, reflect or pray for those we’ve lost. #WeRemember https://t.co/HGCED4d2s5

My bill called the ASSET Act would also support the delivery of nutrition services by lowering bureaucratic barriers for the SNAP program. This is critical for the many families in need of emergency food.

Today, I'm in Washington to work with my colleagues on coronavirus legislation so that individuals, families, and businesses have the support they need to get through this pandemic. What matters most right now is that we listen to public health experts, scientists, and doctors. https://t.co/yTRn2ZvbCR
@Delaware_DHSS I encourage all Delawareans to follow recommended measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, such as staying home when sick and washing hands frequently.

Girls and boys should be equal from the start. Yet, gender inequality starts in childhood and disproportionately affects girls. The Girls LEAD Act can help girls achieve their dreams by giving them the resources they need to succeed. #LEADLikeAGirl

One of the most important meetings I had in Munich was with Ashraf Ghani, the President of Afghanistan. We discussed the reduction in violence agreement. I look forward to working with Ghani to promote stability in his country. #MSC2020

Protecting people with pre-existing conditions is something we should all be able to all agree on. At tonight’s #SOTU, the President needs to lay out exactly how he plans to actually improve the #StateOfHealthcare.

President Trump thought he could charm Kim Jong Un into giving up his nuclear weapons and isolate Iran. In both cases, traditional diplomacy was the critical missing piece. We need a real strategy from the President that relies on our allies and diplomacy to find a way forward. https://t.co/2cOQLFyPur

This horrific attack is sadly only the latest example of a rise in anti-semitism that must be stopped. This is domestic terrorism, plain and simple, and we need to treat it that way. https://t.co/1TKIDhgEe5

What the American people deserve—our history deserves—is an honest, real, and open trial in the Senate of these grave charges against President Trump. If four Republicans will press Leader McConnell for a fair trial, I think there is a chance we’ll get what history deserves. https://t.co/BOIkWgO5p7
