I first celebrated Earth Day in 1970 as a young naval flight officer preparing for my first tour of duty in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. It was the first time when we collectively came together to stand united in our commitment to protect our one and only planet.
Now, as a U.S. Senator, Earth Day still serves as a reminder for me to take a pause and celebrate our planet. It’s a day to see how far we’ve come and how much further we can go if we continue to work together.
