Among the 10 deadliest diseases in the US, #Alzheimer's is the only one that can't be prevented, slowed, or cured. 41,000 New Mexicans are living w/Alzheimer's, many supported by unpaid caregivers. They deserve more research toward a cure & #paidfamily leave. #WorldAlzheimersDay
There is still more to be done, but I'm never going to stop advocating for our families. To uplift our rural communities, we must create good-paying jobs, bolster the economy, ensure quality, affordable health care, and ensure our communities have the resources they need.
This work can start in our communities. Recently, constituents told me the only grocery store Cimarron, N.M. wasn’t able to accept EBT or WIC – making it difficult for families to afford groceries. I stepped in to help. Now, customers can use EBT &WIC to feed their families.
