I look forward to seeing the impacts this will have on increasing cooperation and connection between Canada and Alaska, fostering strong partnerships in the Pacific Northwest and the Arctic, and to extending our region’s influence across the country and the world.
I applaud the President on signing a Presidential Permit authorizing the construction of the A2A, as providing greater access between Alaska and Canada will benefit a myriad of industries including tourism, shipping, energy, manufacturing, national security, and more.
The Alaska to Alberta, or A2A, Railway project is a promising infrastructure endeavor that would involve significant investment in Alaskan railroad and port infrastructure, as well as ongoing maintenance and operations.

Both bills, which now head to the President’s desk to be signed into law, aim to combat the #MMIP epidemic by improving the federal government’s response through increased coordination, development of best practices, and creation of commission on reducing violent crime.
After taking the torch on this effort from Senator Heitkamp, I committed to her that we would continue to build on her good work for all those who have been victims of these heinous crimes & whose families are also victims in their own way. Now, we follow through on that promise.
